Free interpreting services for local government

The Department of Home affairs funds the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) to provide free interpreting services to eligible non-English speaking Australian citizens and permanent residents communicating with approved organisations and individual service providers.

Local Government Authorities (LGAs) can use the Free Interpreting Service to communicate with eligible non-English speakers about day-to-day local government activities such as rates, garbage collection and urban services.
