Australia Day awards

The Australia Day awards celebrate the achievements and contributions made by outstanding members of our community who, through their efforts, make us feel proud to be Australian.
The awards are provided by Loddon Shire Council in conjunction with the Australia Day Council of Victoria.

Nominations for awards close at 4pm on Friday 24 October 2025.
Citizen of the Year Award
The 2026 Loddon Shire Citizen of the Year will be selected from Ward Citizen of the Year nominations.
Young Citizen of the Year Award
The Young Citizen of the Year Award is presented to an individual who resides or operates within our community and who inspires us through their achievements.
The main selection criteria are a noteworthy contribution to the local community during 2025 and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.
In addition, the following factors (not listed in priority order) may be taken into account:
- contribution to family unit
- contribution to municipality, then state and national
- contribution to multi-cultural affairs
- community involvement with all genders
- community involvement with both young and old
The Young Citizen of the Year Award is open to all persons aged up to 26 years as at the subsequent Australia Day.
Ward Citizens of the Year
Ward Citizen of the Year is presented to a resident from each Council Ward who provided an outstanding contribution to the local community over the current year, or has given noteworthy service to the local community over a number of years.
One Ward Citizen of the Year will be selected to be awarded Loddon Shire Citizen of the Year 2026.
Community Group/Event of the Year Award
The Community Group/Event of the Year Award is to recognise and encourage significant contributions to community life within the Loddon Shire and to promote national pride and community responsibility.
Australia Day nomination forms
