Sunset clause extended on supported residential services project

Loddon Shire Council has extended the timeframe for a local service club to work on developing a supported residential services facility in Wedderburn.
Council at its July monthly meeting elected to extend a sunset clause for the Wedderburn Lions Club relating to the proposed development in Wilson St.
The plans date back to 2016 when the club first approached Council about the former Wedderburn Primary School site.
An extension was granted in 2020.
Since then Ambulance Victoria has also, with the support of the Lions Club, proposed an ambulance station for the site.
The extension means that the Lions Club now has until June 2029 to begin the project.
Loddon Shire Mayor Dan Straub said Council wished the club well in the project.
“We are providing the land at no cost to the club, but all costs relating to the facility will be met by parties other than Council,” he said.
“The Lions, with the support of local members of Parliament, Inglewood and District Health Service and other key stakeholders, continue to seek funding and support for a proposed facility.”
