Next steps for Little Lake Boort Foreshore Precinct

Loddon Shire Council will take a pragmatic approach to finishing the Little Lake Boort Foreshore Precinct project, balancing the available funds with the highest priority works needed to finish the job.

Council has endorsed the delivery of the final stage of the project, which has seen a makeover of the precinct.

As work continues on the installation of new fencing and lighting at the tennis courts next to Little Lake Boort, Council has decided on the way forward for remaining items.

It will refine the remaining project scope to deliver the highest priority works achievable with the funds remaining.

This includes the historic park redevelopment, croquet club amenities, storage and shelters, traffic movement improvements around the precinct and selected pathway connections.

Loddon Shire Mayor Dan Straub said this would maximise the use of remaining funding while completing the project.

“Some of the other infrastructure upgrades for the precinct, including the Federation Walk redevelopment and the car park next to the tennis and bowling clubs, will instead be considered through future capital works programs,” he said.

“This will ensure those long-term infrastructure improvements remain on the radar for future delivery.”

Council was successful in April in obtaining more than $650,000 in funding from the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund for the tennis court upgrade and the installation of a skate park/pump track.

The latter had been identified by the local community as a priority.
