Feedback wanted on Community Engagement Policy
Published on 29 October 2026
Loddon Shire Council is inviting residents, businesses and community groups to have their say on a proposed update to our Community Engagement Policy.
Council has released a draft policy for public consultation, providing the community with an opportunity to help shape how Council engages with residents on important decisions and projects.
Mayor Dan Straub said community engagement was a key part of effective local government and encouraged residents to contribute their feedback.
“Council wants to ensure our engagement practices continue to meet community expectations and reflect contemporary best practice,” Cr Straub said.
“This draft policy outlines how we will involve the community in decision-making processes and how we will communicate opportunities for participation and feedback.”
Proposed updates include improved communication of engagement outcomes and greater recognition of barriers some community members may face when participating in consultation activities.
Cr Straub said Council was keen to hear a diverse range of community perspectives before the policy is finalised.
“Community feedback will help ensure the policy is practical, inclusive and reflects the needs and expectations of Loddon Shire residents,” he said.
“Importantly, this consultation is about how Council engages with the community, and we encourage people to share their views on how engagement can be made more effective and accessible.”
The draft policy is available for review on Council’s website.
Community feedback can be submitted until 20 November 2026 either through the website or by hard copy at the Council offices in Wedderburn.
Following the consultation period, feedback will be considered and used to inform any subsequent policy amendments before the policy returns to Council for final adoption.
