Councillor Gavan Holt has been elected as Loddon Shire Mayor at a Special Meeting this afternoon.

Cr Holt, who has been the Councillor for Wedderburn Ward since 2003, said he was delighted to be elected to the role.

“It is a great honour to be elected Mayor, a role I have been fortunate to hold previously during my time as a Loddon Shire Councillor.

“I thank my fellow Councillors for their support in electing me to the role, and I look forward to working with Councillors, staff and the community during the coming year.

“I’d also like to thank Cr Dan Straub for his time as Mayor for the past two years,” Cr Holt added.

“Cr Straub saw us through a difficult time in our Shire during the 2023 October floods and subsequent recovery.

“Of course, Cr Straub has also been at the helm during some exciting projects in Loddon Shire,” Cr Holt said.

“This includes the Donaldson Park Community Hub, Pyramid Hill Streetscape Revitalisation, continuation of the Bridgewater Foreshore Beautification works, Calivil, Mitiamo and Serpentine recreation reserve lighting projects and more.

“Together with Council, I look forward to the continuation of these projects and new projects forging ahead in Loddon Shire, and working with Council and the community around flood recovery efforts.”

Cr Holt previously served as Loddon Shire Mayor from 2005 to 2007, 2009 to 2011 and 2013 to 2015.
