What can and can't I do?
On the first three Open Days of 2021, Tarnagulla History Archive will present Old Tarnagulla In Colour, an exhibition of local historical photographs which have been scanned, digitally restored, ‘colourised’ and reprinted in large format. The exhibition is open on Sunday January 10, Sunday February 14 and Sunday March 14. Please note that COVIDSafe rules will be in place at the venue. The images were created via digital colourisation and restoration of photographs by local business Circa (www.circamuseumservices.com) in a process which also involved careful historical research and consultation with a local historian and long-term residents. Digital colourisation is a new approach to a much older tradition, popular in the early 20th Century, in which photographic prints were hand-coloured with paint. Unlike in those days, a benefit of the digital approach is that the original photograph remains untouched and unmodified. Print copies of the colourised images can be purchased (order & pay on the day, delivered after printing). Proceeds from these sales will also support running costs for the Hall and the Archive.
