Keys of Gold - The Four Seasons

The Four Seasons is one the best known of Vivaldi's works and the echoes of these masterful pieces will be heard on the recently restored organ in St Augustine's Church in Inglewood, by world renowned organist Thomas Heywood and baroque violinist Lizzy Welsh.

Vivaldi represents flowing creeks, singing birds, a shepherd and his barking dog, buzzing flies, storms, drunken dancers, hunting parties from both the hunters' and the prey's point of view, frozen landscapes, and warm winter fires in these works.

The Performers:

Thomas' love of the organ stems from a rich musical family and one concert in the Melbourne Town Hall, that captured his fascination at the age of 6. He has performed in London (staying a week at Windsor Castle), Russia, North America, Asia, and New Zealand - just to name a few of the international performances that he has been invited to. Thomas says "Playing the pipe organ takes you to a new place in your life, connects you with a living tradition, and you’re always finding new instruments you didn’t know existed. It’s like being in a living art gallery!"

Lizzy comes as an internationally renowned music-maker and performer of early music, new music and experimental improvisation, principally on the baroque violin and modern violin. She has performed across the globe throughout her career, having appeared with who has appeared with Freitags-Akademien (Berlin, Germany), Latitude 37, Van Diemen’s Band, The Night Watch (Wellington, NZ), Orchestra of the Antipodes, Accademia Arcadia, La Compañia, Ludovico’s Band, Consort Eclectus and Harken Well.

This event is part 1 of Inglewood's Double Day, with another Keys of Gold event, Brilliant Bach, being held at 3pm the same day at Inglewood Town Hall.
