Loddon Valley Marketing Plan Workshop

Published on 24 January 2017

Loddon Shire Council is taking steps to ensure the region’s smaller towns and districts aren’t forgotten when it comes to its future tourism marketing.

A planned series of workshops aims to closely examine the current and potential attractions of different sectors of the Shire with a view to increasing visitor numbers and getting the most from the time and dollars invested.

These workshops are open to the general public, for people who have an interest in tourism and marketing their community.

The move – one of many actions spelt out in the recently approved Loddon Shire Tourism Strategy 2016-2019 – sets out to align smaller villages with their nearest larger neighbour.

Six workshops will be held across the municipality in February, led by marketing and communications expert Sharon Wells.

Ms Wells, a director of Melbourne consultancy Pan & Bacchanalia, has more than 30 years’ experience in the tourism and cultural sectors, both in Australia and overseas.

She has developed and executed major campaigns with organisations including the National Gallery of Victoria, Bendigo Art Gallery, Oxfam Australia, the Edinburgh Festival and major international food and wine brands.

For the past 12 months, she has been working successfully with the Loddon Shire and Bendigo Regional Tourism on major media campaigns.
