The Loddon Shire Council is committed to building and supporting a strong local economy that provides for the innovative and sustainable business base. There are over 300 non-farming small businesses within the Loddon Shire, one of the largest rural shires in Victoria.

The Economic Development Unit is responsible for the management and implementation of initiatives to support the business community, enhance and promote the local retail and tourism precincts and foster and promote a co-operative culture within Council in its dealings with the business community.

Economic Development Strategy

The Economic Development Strategy assesses Council's role in business development and support and evaluates the effectiveness of current business development programs and initiatives.

The Loddon Shire Economic Development Strategy:

  • recognises and builds upon the fundamental contribution of business to the prosperity, sustainability and liveability of the Shire 
  • provides a clear framework of identified programs and projects to advance the Shire's prosperity, amenity and liveability; and 
  • provides an improved focus to build and maintain an enduring partnership with the business community to achieve sustainable and high quality investment and business development outcomes.

Business Victoria is a comprehensive online resource designed to help you start, run and grow your business. 

ICN Regional Gateway is a comprehensive online system with around $319 billion worth of projects and more than 70,000 suppliers listed. This initiative is managed by Industry Capability Network (ICN). ICN is an independent organisation financially supported by Australian, New Zealand, state and territory governments. Since it started 29 years ago, ICN has helped local suppliers find $20.6 billion worth of contracts.

Regional Development Victoria is the Victorian Government’s lead agency in developing rural and regional Victoria.

Agriculture Victoria's Food and fibre industries provides information about the main agricultural industries of Victoria.  It includes useful statistics and information as well as links to current programs to assist businesses.

Victorian Government has information a wide range of subjects including regional public holidays, school holidays and daylight saving times. 

Department of Communications Broadband page has resources to assist users to make the most of the internet—including information on the Australian Government’s broadband policy and support for small business and rural users to connect to broadband services.
