Home>Building and Planning >Building Services>Consent to demolish (section 29A of the Building Act 1993)
| Section 29A of the Building Act 1993 requires that if an application is made to a building surveyor for a building permit to partly or completely demolish a building then the report and consent of Council may be required if the demolition and all other demolitions completed or permitted in respect to the building within the period of three years immediately preceding the date of the application would together amount to more than one half the volume of the entire building. Council report and consent may also be required if the demolition is of any part of the facade of the building. Please refer to section 29A of the Act for precise wording of this requirement.
If a building surveyor requires Council's report and consent in respect to this section of the Act there is an application form. Please note that statutory costs are payable for this service.
Please note that this consent does not constitute a building permit and that such permit must be obtained prior to carrying out the proposed demolition. | |
