| Northern Victorian Council submission seeks greater balance in Basin Plan | | The Murray River Group of Councils comprises Mildura Rural City Council, Swan Hill Rural City Council, Gannawarra Shire Council, Loddon Shire Council, Campaspe Shire Council and Moira Shire Council.
The Murray River Group of Councils has been joined by the Greater Shepparton City Council and the Strathbogie Shire Council to form a broad partnership to give a strong voice to regional concerns on the Draft Murray Darling Basin Plan. The submission to the Murray Darling Basin Authority reflects the group's four months of consultation with local communities, discussions with Ministers and meetings with government agencies, including the Murray Darling Basin Authority.
Calls for improved information and significant government investment in water infrastructure are central recommendations being made in the submission. These and other recommendations seek to achieve more balanced outcomes from the Draft Murray Darling Basin Plan in order to bring joint benefit to local communities, the economy and the environment.
