The Loddon Valley offers a base for visiting large areas of central and northern Victoria, and can easily be reached by road from Melbourne, Bendigo or Mildura via the Calder Highway, or Echuca and the other Murray River towns by the Loddon Valley Highway. Covering an area of 6700 square kilometres, the region is well known for its natural attractions including rivers, lakes, State and National Parks and nature reserves. From Aboriginal sites to early European settlements to relics of gold rush, there is also plenty of history to immerse yourself in.
Recreational activities abound whether sporting, such as bushwalking, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, rock climbing, golf or bowls to quieter pursuits including sightseeing, fossicking and browsing the local shops and wineries.
