Next “fee free” waste day
To support fire preparation activities, the next “fee free” waste disposal days are scheduled for 3 and 4 November 2018. These dates also coincide with the November long weekend.
“Fee free” waste disposal will take place on Saturday 3 November at the Inglewood Transfer Station from 8am to 12pm.
On Sunday 4 November, there will be “fee free” waste disposal at Boort Landfill from 1pm to 5pm, Pyramid Hill Landfill from 8am to 12pm, Newbridge Landfill from 1pm to 5pm, Wedderburn Transfer Station from 8am to 12pm and Dingee Transfer Station from 10am to 2pm.
You can dispose of up to four cubic metres of general domestic waste free of charge. This includes green waste, mixed recyclables, general household waste, e-waste, television and computer screens, and white goods.

Rural Councils Victoria forum and MAV State Council
Last week I attended the Rural Councils Victoria forum with Councillor Geoff Curnow, Councillor Gavan Holt and Council’s Chief Executive Officer Phil Pinyon.
The forum included presentations from the Minister for Regional Development Jaala Pulford as well as Opposition Leader and Victorian Liberal Party Leader Matthew Guy, regarding their respective parties’ policies for rural Victoria.
Other topics at the forum included local migration strategies to meet rural labour needs, rural Victorian population growth and workforce development, and advocacy for the upcoming state election.
On Friday 19 October, Councillor Neil Beattie and Councillor Holt represented Loddon Shire at the Municipal Association of Victoria’s (MAV) State Council, where Loddon Shire also put up a motion.
Council’s motion requested the MAV advocate to the Victorian State Government for continuation of the Roadside Weeds and Pest Program funding beyond June 2019. This funding is essential to enable councils to maintain delivery of this program into the future.
The program is delivered in consultation with the Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport, and Resources and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning.
