Australia Day awards

The Australia Day awards celebrate the achievements and contributions made by outstanding members of our community who, through their efforts, make us feel proud to be Australian.

The awards are provided by Loddon Shire Council in conjunction with the Australia Day Council of Victoria.

Citizen and Young Citizen of the Year Award

The Citizen of the Year Award and Young Citizen of the Year Award are presented to individuals who operate within our community and who inspire us through their achievements. 

The main selection criteria are a noteworthy contribution to the local community during the previous year and/or given outstanding service to the local community over a number of years.

In addition, the following factors (not listed in priority order) may be taken into account:

• contribution to family unit
• contribution to municipality, then state and national
• contribution to multi-cultural affairs
• community involvement with both male and female genders
• community involvement with both young and old

To be eligible for Citizen of the Year, the person must be aged 27 years and over as of the subsequent Australia Day.

To be eligible for Young Citizen of the Year Award is open to all persons aged 26 years and under.

Community Services Award

The Community Services Award is presented to a resident from each Council Ward that provided outstanding contribution to the local community over the current year, or giving noteworthy service to the local community over a number of years.

Community Group/Event of the Year Award

The Community Group/Event of the Year Award is to recognise and encourage significant contributions to community life within each local area and to promote national pride and community responsibility.
